Complex support needs
Understanding
comes first.
Every person communicates, responds and engages differently. Individualised support starts by understanding the person, their choices and the support they need.
Respect, consistency and participation
The person
comes before
the label.
We support people with a range of disabilities and support requirements, including autism, intellectual disability and complex behavioural support needs.
Our approach is to understand the participant as an individual, respect their dignity and choices, and provide support consistent with their needs, relevant plans and the worker’s role.
Where appropriate, we work alongside families and relevant professionals to support consistency and meaningful participation.
A useful first conversation
Start with
what matters.
You do not need to put a detailed clinical history into a website enquiry. The first step is to discuss the support being explored and how further information can be shared appropriately.
Preferences and goals
What does the participant enjoy? How do they prefer to communicate? What would they like support to help them do?
Needs and context
Discuss the type of support, preferred location and relevant plans. Suitability and service capacity must be considered individually.
People and next steps
Where appropriate and with consent, involve family, carers, support coordinators and relevant professionals in the discussion.
Let’s understand
the support you’re exploring.
Tell us what matters to you, where you’re based and the support you’re exploring. We’ll discuss suitability, current service capacity and next steps.
